Our Storytelling Tree Launch - Friday 28 May

Gcinamasiko, in collaboration with UNISA Libraries & Information Services, are launching the long awaited project "Our Storytelling Tree: A South African Storytellers' Directory" on 28 May at 6pm (SAST).

The book is the first of its kind and serves not only as a collection of stories, but more importantly as a database for 38 of South Africa's storytellers and custodians of intangible heritage.

The book launch will be streamed live to the Gcinamasiko Facebook Page.

Should you wish to catch the launch at a later stage we will keep it up on the page but also upload to the Gcinamasiko YouTube Channel.

Panelists for the night are Dr Sindiwe Magona, Dr Elinor Sisulu, Prof Pamela Dube, Eugene Skeef, Dr Nompucuko Zakaza, Dr Nomsa Mdlalose and Philippa Namutebi Kabali-Kagwa with Dr Gcina Mhlophe as facilitator.

The topic of the discussion is: The importance of storytelling in support of Sustainable Development Goal 4 “Education and Lifelong Learning”, as per AU Agenda 2063 and the celebration of our oral tradition as a growing nation.
