My BIG Name by Amonge Elethu Sinxoto wins the PENDORING 2022 SILVER AWARDS

What an honour to have the young and ground breaking activist and author, Amonge Elethu Sinxoto as part of our team at New Africa Books! We are proud to announce that her first children's book - My BIG Name - has won the Pendoring 2022 Silver Awards for publication as a whole. 

My BIG Name is inspired by her own sister’s story of having her name changed by a school teacher, altering it from Isenguye to Izzy because she could not pronounce it. Sinxoto wants to emphasise the significance of pronouncing African names correctly because of the power they carry.
